The weak light from a beam splitter is primarily due to the intentional splitting ratio, absorption, scattering, and reflection losses inherent in the device.Splitting Ratio and DesignBeam splitters are designed to divide incoming light into transmitted and reflected beams according to a specified splitting ratio. For example, a 50/50 beamsplitter reflects half the light and transmits the other half, meaning each output beam inherently carries less intensity than the original input beam . Polarizing or dichroic beam splitters may further reduce intensity depending on the polarization state or wavelength of the incident light .Material and Coating LossesThe material and coatings of the beam splitter significantly affect light intensity. Dielectric coatings use multiple layers to control reflection and transmission, but some light is inevitably absorbed or scattered, reducing output power .
